Emma PIllowsham

Emma Pillowsham

We often get asked about pillowshams; their purpose, what makes them special & why have one? We have designed pillowshams for a number of reasons …

  • They perfectly compliment a comforter / bed spread
  • They offer an additional pillowcase option
  • They can be used as an alternative or additionally to a cushion
  • Pillowshams are an attractive addition to any bed.

Pillowsham Facts:

  • They are exactly the same inner size as a standard pillow.
  • They have 100% cotton fill to give them an extra padded feel.
  • There is a pillowsham option for every collection with a comforter
  • They are quilt stitched with the same quilting design as the matching comforter.
  • Very easy to sleep on
  • 100% machine washable

To sham or not to sham is a personal choice but pillowshams add the “wow” factor to a room.

Our Creative Director - Sally Paterson

Our Creative Director – Sally Paterson

There is no sleep at Patersonrose; no rest for the wicked!  Linen is not quick to produce & the behind the scenes work commences 12 months before a collection hits our stores.  Sally Paterson, PR’s creative director,  updates us on what she has been creating & the exciting things that are about to burst onto the shelves ….

Autumn launch :
We have been constantly asked for products including green.  Emma has this to some degree, but in response to our customers requests, we are about to launch our apple green shaggy rug – it seriously is almost good enough to eat!

For girls, the much anticipated Charlotte design is about to arrive –  a design I am totally passionate about & have created from my heart.  She is another ‘Olivia’  style – delightful & very feminine. Charlotte encompasses duck egg blue, apple green, soft pinks & a hint of red.  A very very pretty design we can not wait to share with you.”

Thanks Sally.  Make sure you join our eNews so you are the first to hear when new designs & products arrive.  NEW Rugs will be in stores June. Charlotte arrives July.

Create the ideal ‘look” in your child’s room

Any advice when choosing a bedroom look?

Let’s face it, none of us like getting things wrong!  The biggest error people make when re-decorating their kids bedrooms is choosing their curtains first, and usually, they select a patterned fabric. OHHHHH NOOOOO.  Don’t do this!!  It is the big ‘ No No’ of re-decorating.

This limits all other décor options for the room and creates a huge amount of difficulty of choosing other elements, as patterned curtains leave very few mix & match options.

But wait… there is help.  Phew !!  When decorating, always start by deciding on 1 or 2 “key” colours to focus on in the room.  Select the linen - this is the item with the fewest options.  From here, work the rest of your décor outwards from the bed.  Finally, add splashes of theme to incorporate whatever your child’s current passion may be.

Create a dream space for your child without the ‘ohhh nooo’.

Resene colour

Autumn Fashion Colour

Colour trends for 2013?
Current fashion is for strong colours, partnered with classic design – rather than busy theming.  Consumers are more considerate with their spend so less likely to set up a child’s room to a child’s latest whim ( fairies or Dinosaurs ).

There is a definite move away from frills, fancies & busy texture; once again, leaning to more classic looks, still bringing in themes & children’s passions but with accessories – cushions, wall decals & wall colour.

What’s hot for Autumn 2013?   Purple – It is a colour consumers have been requesting repeatedly.  So we have accommodated with the perfect Patersonrose Purple.  Her name is Lou Lou.  She is a burst from the rainbow;  fun, bright & totally cheerful.  Trendy but not at all fashionable.  Go Lou Lou!!

Live it up with Lou Lou

Lou Lou Linen Collection

We are constantly coming up with new ideas & colour waves for our next round of designs.  No easy task!  Sally, our Design Director, has the auspicious challenge to turn all ideas into an appealing linen collection you will love, so we do get incredibly excited when a new design is finally signed off for production.  This month, we hone in on Lou Lou.  Sally provides us some in-sight on the inspiration for the Lou Lou collection ….

“At Patersonrose, we tend not to focus on fashion.  We aim to blend together the colours & patterns we love, embracing suggestions from our customers & retailers, whilst sticking to our rules of being ‘classic with a twist’ – our own twist.  Lou Lou evolved precisely from the above ingredients but happened to also co-incide with the latest fashion colours.  She is a burst of colour, brightening up any room; a chameleon – she will mix with so many colour pallettes.  But my primary directive with Lou Lou; she must be fun”

And fun she is!!  An introduction of purple, teamed with aqua, sploshes of red, a splash of pink & a sprig fresh green.  This collection is gorgeous in a girls room; so perfectly transitions to teenagers.

Wills Star linen Collection with sea blue shaggy rug

Wills Star linen Collection with sea blue shaggy rug

New to our boys range, is this fresh soft blue collection with friendly white stars.  Wills Star is designed to appeal to newborns through to 12 year old boys, & is truly a design to delight. As with so many of our PR collections, there are endless mix & match combinations.

Prefer classic? – then stick with Wills star spot sheeting & the totally scrumptious patchwork comforter.
Like red? Then pair with chilli red sheeting.
Want to add some more depth? Add the mariner navy sheeting, include any of the navy cushions, & light with the navy Mariner lampshade.
A little theming is required?  Ensure you include the compass & anchor cushions for a nautical look, the starry night & union Jack cushions for a mid age boy appeal, & include stripes with the nautical rug.

But don’t stop with our suggestions.  Choice your own favourite pieces to put with Wills Star. Our company motto remains …. ‘ there are no rules with Patersonrose linen – just go for it!’

Stripy Sam lampshade

Stripy Sam Lampshade

Every room needs light.  Plus we all want our children to do a little reading at night dont we!  What better way for them to have a reading light or a gentle light that makes them feel cosy at bedtime.  Lampshades help us achieve both of these but cleverly, by selecting a PR shade which mix & matches with your bedding, you add the ‘wow’ factor to your child’s room.

To care your for lovely lampshade, gently wipe with a dust cloth or clothes brush when cleaning.  We do not recommend using anything wet to clean shades as they use our 100% cotton fabric which has been carefully cut to fit the shade.  Nothing else needs to be done. Light it up !!
