• Coming into winter, whats a winter “must buy” at OOTC ?

If you haven’t invested in a good quality quilt it is time to do so.  Our range of cotton & corn (yes corn!) quilts are light, warm, machine washable, hypo allergenic & just perfect for these cold winter nights.

Mariner - “You can not go wrong with blues, white and red, with a hint of silver. Timeless stripes with bold flat colours are a winner for boys and young adults. I personally love the freshness of this design. It looks amazing in a holiday house or any home interior – older home or modern.  I intended Mariner to appeal to older & younger boys alike, plus be well suited to a guest room, beach house or bunk room.”

Patersonrose Rugs are made from superior quality acrylic yarn, selected because of its quality soft, plush feel.   Acrylic yarn is the closest to wool, in appearance and feel, of any synthetic, although it is less likely to fade in bright sunlight and requires less specialist care.

If you are from a warmer climate where the autumn temperatures aren’t declining, then Rugs are still of benefit;  taking the chill off tiled floors, creating softness, assisting to reduce floor noise, making a child’s room comfy, adding fabulous colour or completing a final finish to any bedroom.  Fun, fun, fun!

• Which designs are working well for you?                         

We love Emma.  It is just so pretty with just the right amount of freshness to truly lift any girls bedroom.  But lately the Millie is giving the Emma a good run for its money!

• What’s your favourite mix & match option?

We love mixing LOL with Bella & Daisy – the 3 can be perfect when mixing genders in 1 room, or when mixing ages – these designs can work across all age groups which is perfect for us as we really do cater from tots to teens Our other favourite mix & match is the Stripy Sam on a bottom bunk for the younger child & the Mariner on the top bunk for the Big Brother – the red, white & navy always looks gorgeous but the Stripy Sam with its mid blues pulls together a look for a younger child.

• What are your customers looking for when doing up their childrens rooms ?

Inspiration! We are constantly being asked what we use in my children’s rooms and for any hot styling tips.  My number one styling tip – choose your 3 base colours & work from there.  It is amazing how almost any item with any theme can work in a space as long as the base colour tones are complementary.  My other tip is to match a couple of items perfectly to give the look continuity.  This is one (of the many reasons) I love Patersonrose;  you can have your base linen, lampshade & tab top curtains and then blend everything else form there – there is so many product liens to choose from I often find myself spoilt for choice.

• Whats your best selling PR accessory ?

Pinboards – Patersonrose pinboards are beautifully made in gorgeous co-ordinating fabrics and with the crisscross ribbon you don’t need to actually use pins, which is just perfect for a child’s play & sleep space.

• Favourite design & why ?

At the moment my favourite design would have to be Daisy.  With all of the Red Riding Hood/Down to the Woods style accessories in vogue this winter, Daisy has it for stylish design & perfectly on trend!

Thanks Out of the Cot team.   We love Daisy too :)  I’ve now finished my trim mocha latte regular with cinnamon & 1 sugar; just kidding!  I’m a simple “flat white” girl, but in all seriousness, I am now totally inspired to re-do my kids rooms.  Gotta dash & do it!  Back later in the month for OOTC’s “must buys”.

Our “new look” Mariner is here & climbing up the ranks to be a #1 choice for boys. This nautical duvet cover of navy, red & white print with a silver stripe, had a makeover last year  & we totally love the end result.  Boys bedding is challenging at the best of times, but the Mariner fits the bill on all fronts – it’s funky & fun, classic but modern.  Great in a nursery or a lads first bed; it cuts the mustard for older boys and teenagers where, with a change of accessories, Mariner pulls out all stops !

As with all our collections, your boys room can be built piece by piece, adding comforters / coverlets & rugs for winter, expanding the cushion options to match room themes, gifting pinboards & storage bags for birthdays, then mix & matching sheets & bedding as required. The end result will be AAA+ for your boy.  Aye Aye captain !

“For us, the makeover has come at such a fantastic time as our youngest daughter Olivia’s bedroom was in desperate need of a makeover.  We had been waiting to see when repairs would begin from EQC and just weeks before we decided we would do it ourselves.  We were so excited (given that I have never won anything…..) when we were told of this amazing package and for us nothing could have been better than being able to choose products from Patersonrose, along with getting a new bed and mattress and also the Resene Voucher to begin a makeover in our daughter’s room.  We have been busy trying colours, and mixing and matching to work what is best.  However, in true girl style both our girls decided to get the linen first, then decide on what colour the paint would be to match.  Sophia has gone for the Bella range, liking the mix of colours the selection had.  Olivia was keen for something a little simpler and has gone for the LOL range which she absolutely loves.  They were very thrilled to get the buntings and cushions as well to add to the feel of the rooms.  It was a very hard decision as we love all the products in Patersonrose, but are lucky that many of the ranges can be mixed and matched to suit your needs.  This weekend the painting begins………….we will keep you posted with progress and of course send photos on completion.  Thanks to you and all the wonderful staff in-store, everyone is always so friendly, kind and helpful whenever I am in having a look or purchasing!!!”
