Are you a spotty kinda person with your bedding? Or are stripes, checks, florals or abstract more your thing? What’s your fav bed linen pattern collab? We are crazy about duvet cover and sheeting pattern-fusing in bedrooms, putting different designs together to create effortless style! Be brave. If you are unsure if your combo works, team it up & see what you think. If you like a particular duvet cover with the sheet set and pillowcases you choose, go for it!! And be sure to change out the designs & colours every now & then to transform your interior.
We are crazy about the Greta check duvet cover set blended with Annabels blush spots sheets. Checks & spots; aqua & blush. Stunning!! If you get stuck, or pattern mixing just is not your thing, flick us a message or email email@example.com and ask. We can help you narrow down your 100% cotton duvet cover, sheeting, pillowcase & cushion options. Too easy 😄
Setting up or decorating a kids bedroom & choosing bedding for a teenager, baby or anyone in your home can be a little daunting; sometimes a whole lot daunting! Whilst having the idea to set up a new bedroom is exciting, it can be surrounded with some anxiety – where do I start? how will I cope? what if I don’t know what to do? what if I get the colours wrong? where do I find nice 100% cotton bedding ? Be assured, you will cope, you will find out what to do, & of course, Patersonrose has beautiful 100% cotton sheeting & duvet covers for big people & young children’s bedrooms!!! Boys bedrooms & girls rooms. Yay.
Everyone deserves to sleep in natural cotton that breathes. Even better to find a duvet pattern that works in your home & won’t break the bank. Patersonrose! You will be blinded by mix & match options. If you have children who share a bedroom or 2 beds in the same room, perhaps choose different duvet covers sets but use the same sheeting design. Or keep your duvet design the same & swap out sheeting and pillowcases.
An example is our Navy sheeting that works well with kids duvet covers – wonderful if you have girls & guys in the same room! or want to keep the kids sheeting all one pattern, giving each child their own duvet ‘look’.
Now you have discovered Patersonrose, your bedroom creation can begin. But be careful!! Patersonrose bedding can become quite addictive. It’s super lovely to touch & quite delish to sleep in.
Can you hear the colour! This is simplicity & stunning-ness at it’s best for boys bedrooms. Red, white & blue ❤️ with the striking addition of grey to add some oomph 💪 in big brush-stroke stripes. The Leon duvet collection is a nicely nautical duvet cover in a modern mature way, looking sleek in a teenage boys room; just as stunning in a small boys room & fitting anywhere in-between. Bloody brilliant!
Accessorise your boys room with 100% cotton sheeting, a few different pillowcases, some cushions, wall art & furniture to add themes, passions or crazes your boy is currently into. It doesn’t get much better than Leon!
The Leon duvet cover set is made from 100% natural cotton with loads of 100% cotton sheeting options. Single, king single & queen beds.
We love our super duper special retailers – our business just wouldn’t be the same without them. They obviously sell Patersonrose products 😄 ( thats super important & keeps us alive ) but it’s more than that! They help us create our bedding designs & products, from the very birth of each collection, telling us what they like ( & what they don’t like – just as important ), what they are searching for & ways we can all improve together.
This month we celebrate Luxury Linen, a very strong NZ online store that contributes loads to PR. Let us introduce you to Debbie ( pictured with her beloved cat ), the brains & beauty ❤ behind Luxury Linen …
“The business idea for Luxury Linen came about soon after moving to NZ from the UK in 2004. Looking for modern duvet covers for myself, I found it difficult to find in retail shops. There seemed to be a gap in the market for luxury, styles to brighten up bedrooms so it felt like the perfect opportunity to combine this with my university knowledge of business and economics after having just graduated from university.
Luxury Linen recognises that there is a high demand to keep interiors up to date and on trend while at the same time offering comfortable bedding so that you have a great night sleep. We love the Paterson Rose brand especially as its made from natural cotton and available in so many beautiful designs that can easily be accessorized to create the bedroom you love! Our favourite design is Poppy with its delicious duck egg blue, dusky pink, white and navy colours”.
3 cheers for Luxury Linen. We can’t wait for LL to share with you our 2021 collections – stay posted!
Our ‘once a year’ Popup is open – and it’s Online. Yee-hah!!! That means everyone can shop our Popup Prices.

100% COTTON sheeting & duvet covers starting at $10, rugs from $35 (normally up to $270), cushions, canvases & lampshades from $5 & more …
We normally ‘pop up’ in bricks and mortar stores around NZ ( if you have been to one of our popups – you know how good the specials are !!!). But with covid & all it’s uncertainties, we have decided to offer our POPUP specials to everyone, online.
It’s the perfect time to purchase a new duvet or 2, crisp cotton sheeting, set up a room, re-vamp, get Xmas gifts & so much more.
Decor alert! Needing help or ideas deciding which sheeting to put with your selected duvet cover? Or can’t quite choose a combination? Our infamous PR rule is that there are no rules!! Whatever you like the best is A-OK! But sometimes it can be a little nail-biting for some of us making that final choice of which duvet & sheeting set to purchase. At PR, we are fully obsessed ( nothing slight about it 😆 ) with creating new designs that really can be mixed & matched with collections old & new. We want to give you options to change your decor by simply adding pillowcases, getting alternative sheeting that tones or getting a new duvet that works with your current sheeting & accessories. And we love that!!! Your options are boundless. Go with one set within a collection and then add bits and bobs as you can – extra sheeting and pillowcases from different collections, so that every time you change a bed, you create a new fresh decor that looks amazing!
Here, we show how the Poppy duvet cover sits perfectly with Annabel, Belle, Hannah & Navy stripe. You can mix any of these together between sheeting & pillowcases.Happy match & mixing 😊
OMG – we loooovvvvve sharing pics of ‘our linen in your home’. Hopefully they inspire you & give you some good design ideas. This one is superlatively stunning!! Don’t you agree? This amazing bed features cushions … well …a few PR cushions 😆, our Wills Star comforter and PR Navy sheeting.
How fabulous that our boys sheeting & cushions & bedding is on beds on the other side of the world!!! Even more amazing this bed is in a special boys home in Abu Dhabi! Thank you so much for sharing😘 & even bigger thanks for being a Patersonrose fan xxx
Teenagers!! Often it all gets a bit tricky finding bedding for the young man or lady in your home, as they don’t want frilly florals, vibrant colours or often, don’t want busy prints either. And adult linen often doesn’t make the cut. Here’s a knock-out teenage designs that we have created. The Jemima duvet cover / doona. Timeless, spanning across all ages, the Jemima collection is fun & funky! Even better – all of our bedding is beautiful 100% natural cotton.
Plus check out our other designs for guys and girls – loads of options for young adults and old kids 😆.
Fashion colour ‘call out’ for girls – 2020. The results are in! Woop woop! It’s all about Aqua. Soft tones of aqua teamed with silver & mint. So let’s get rolling with our new collection – Jess!!! A duvet cover set & sheeting collection of fresh and fun aqua and white stripes. And don’t be shy to add in other colours with Aqua. Aqua loves colour collab! It’s as easy as throwing on some Annabel rose sheeting, our Greta deep green & blush pillowcases & a silver bling cushion. Or go yellow with our fun Pineapple cushion. Any way – you will end up with very cool kids room bedroom decor. Nice work!
WOW! Elevate your girls bedroom space with simple & glamorous Greta. This is effortless style at it’s best; checks of smokey pine green with beautiful blush. And so versatile! When we talk about having lots of options to dec out your room, we really do mean it! Match & mix between Jess aqua stripe sheeting or Annabel rose spots ( in pic ) fitted sheet and pillowcase to create a combo that you love best!! Or, accessorise with charcoal for a more sophisticated ‘older girls’ look.
There are NO rules with your bedroom decor! Happy combo-ing
What is more beautiful for a girls first ‘BIG’ bed than a good dollop of the prettiest, lolliest, starriest pink!! It really is better than toasted marshmallows! We really should all celebrate pink!! Your girl is only small for such a short time & will move through her pink stage quicker than a wink or a blink! If you are a mother doing her utmost to avoid pink, then let it go! Our ‘prettier than pink’ fav collection is currently the Rosa duvet cover and sheet set. Mix this stunning Rosa candy pink & star duvet / doona cover with Silver Star and bling accessories. Pink really is the colour of harmony & happiness.Celebrate pink!!
At PR, we really love, love, love being able to change out & mix up designs with bits & pieces from other PR styles & collections. What fun! It’s amazing how you can completely change a room with switching out pillowcases, changing an accessory or adding a rug & create a fresh new look – such fun & so easy!!.
Can’t quite work out what to do in your girls room for her 1st big bed? Or trying to decorate a room using pink? Then look no further. We have loads of girls rooms solutions!
Anything is possible with a little pink. A lot of pink works well too 😆. Either way, pink is the colour of youth, joy, pretty things and happiness. Embrace pink! Your wee girl won’t be ‘wee’ for very long & before you know it she will be requesting colours you may not like quite as much as she does.

FINAL DAY Sat 30th December 2019
Can’t wait to see you there. Please do spread the word to family, friends & colleagues. Thank you. See you soon!!!
With great pleasure, we present the rooms awarded 2nd & 3rd place in our ‘Show us your Room’ photo competition 2019. These rooms were selected for their use of colour, some creative license, a dash of design flair & fab presentation, all creating delightful bedroom spaces. Congratulations!
Heather Hoy – ‘My granddaughter loves to visit and often takes a book and just falls asleep in her special room. She loves it because it’s beautiful.’
The Judges said …” What girl, big or small, wouldn’t love to sleep in this room. Oh so cosy! This room is very complete. The owner has made great use of everything PR, successfully combining several collections very nicely; there is also lovely use of both aqua & silver elements linking all the linen & accessories really well. The lines are simple, not congested & there is nice use ( without overuse ) of accessories. Overall, a truly delightful room.
Krysta Ardern – ‘We entered a couple of years ago with my then two-year-old’s room featuring some of your beautiful cot linen and accessories. This is his big boy room. Our family loves to read and my four year old adores story time and chilling alone in his room with his books and audio books. Dr Seuss is a bit of a fave of mine (and my son is enjoying his work now too!), so we included the bright truffula trees and quote from ‘Horton hears a Who’. I designed his room so that Isaac can relax with a good book, or have hush hour in his snuggly bed with an audio book playing.
The ‘Tom’ range fitted so well with the bright aesthetic of the Truffula trees, and I love the classic grey and white stripe that ties the whole story together from the sheeting to the cushions and lamp shade.
We now have a six-month-old baby girl who already has a few PR pieces in her room. I look forward to designing her room with your beautiful products when she is a bit older!’
The judges said …” There is a wonderful story with this boys bedroom. We enjoyed understanding the concept of the wall decals, making this a special space for both sleeping & also reading. Clever!! We really like the mix of a colour with the Tom duvet covers, books shelves & floor rug, & again, the colour use is not overpowering; rather it’s levelled by the block colours in the Tom linen. A very smart boys room. Well done“
A very loud, roaring ‘thank you’ to ALL of you who picked up kids clothing, tidied toys, cleared floors, revamped & re-decorated rooms, ‘clicked’ & then took the time ( something very precious to us all ) to email us your bedroom photo entries. There were so many amazing Mums who did this! Many inspired, motivated & amazed us!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! We wish we could award each & every one of you a prize!!
It was certainly a very difficult task to select the winners amongst so many gorgeous bedrooms featuring PR linen & products. After many days of deliberation between our 3 judges, consensus was finally made. We loved the high standard of room decoration & attention to detail – there are some very lucky children with very special bedrooms & spaces. Well done all of you. You blew us away!!! Our overall winning rooms were selected for their attention to detail & expression, which can sometimes be the simple things.
So without further ado, our winning room was awarded to Victoria Park, with her daughters room decked out in Lou Lou linen ( shown below ). Congratulation to Victoria, who wins a $500 PR Voucher.
Heather Hoy with her grand daughters room, featuring Evie linen & Krysta Ardern’s room using Tom linen were our 2nd & 3rd place winners, each winning an annual subscription to Your Home & Garden.
4th & 5th where so difficult to select as so many of you entered gorgeous pics & your kids rooms were just a delight. Our next winners are Melanie Old, featuring Lou Lou & Rosie O’Sullivan with Stripy Sam.
But we couldn’t help ourselves!. The standard was so high & the judging so close that we have also awarded another prize. Our additional winner was Kelly Greer, with her Wills Star room. Congratulations to all of our winners & thank you to everyone who entered. Stay posted for further comps & offers ….& room pics of all our winners.
Victoria Parks daughters room with Lou Lou duvet & comforter & groovy grape rug
Victoria said : “I have photographed my daughter’s airy room and would like to enter this into your competition. We have used your beautiful and bright Lou Lou set. Her favourite colour is purple, so we’ve placed a heavier accent on this, for a stunning look. Thank you for the gorgeous products!’
The judges said: ‘We loved the use of colour in this room, with everything working so well. The hero feature for us was certainly the Lou Lou duvet cover & Lou Lou comforter. We liked the colourful play with cushions & all features being bolted together with the groovy grape rug. Then master finishing touches of the drawer colours & art piece. The room had lovely balance from wall to floor of colour & mixed patterns. There was certainly a great use of PR products without crowding; and good use of the anchoring colour, purple, without being overly strong. A very bright, breezy & comfortable interior. Well done‘
We are buzzing with birthday bash as we celebrate our ‘Sweet 16’ birthday & an amazing adventure designing 100% cotton linen & interiors for kids rooms around NZ, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong & UAE. Not bad for a little old NZ company. Most importantly, we couldn’t have done it without you, so thanks! To celebrate, we have created a video with a few of our highlights & memories. Loads of designs, products, customers & popping up fun.
Park up with a coffee or vino, crank up the volume & sing loudly!!!
There are a few people who we couldn’t find photos of ( so sorry) who have been such an intricate part of the pathway – Kath, Clare, Rach M & Rach J, Jude H & Jude M. & of course Sally who has been the main inspiration. And Karen (we know how you love your photo taken) who has been part of PR for over 9 years. Plus there are so many of you Popup helpers (thank you) & others who have swopped in along the way. Thank you all for being part of the PR trek.

There are very few retailers that are the whole package – provide an amazingly beautiful store & show room for our linen & interiors, who have believed in PR 110% of the way, who are happy to provide some gentle guidance ( sometimes tear-jerkingly honestly ) if we swerve in the wrong direction but just as happy to pat us on the back when we do something well. And not everyone has a great ear (& eye) & is a kind sounding board like the team at OOTC, Adelaide, Australia. Hence they are the 1st to be spot-lighted for our 16th birthday.
PLUS, they have a brilliant birthday offer for Australian customers, with 30% OFF ALL PR until Fri 21st June 2019
We reflect on Out of the Cot from 2014 & catch up with them today on what they are currently enjoying. We get the lo-down from Emma on their beautiful store …
2019 : What is your fav PR design today & why? I currently love Archie! With our eldest having just turned 11 (seriously when did I get old enough to have an 11 yr old) Archie is just perfect. Archie is that perfect mix of modern & grown up yet still fun and the soft charcoal colour palate is simply stunning.
What is your current fav meal ? My brother is a chef & fisherman on the Tuna boats & I have to say high quality Tuna Sashimi is always a favourite…but I recently had a seared Tuna Poke Bowl and oh my goodness, Yum!
2014 : Which designs are working well for you? We are currently crushing on Charlotte. With its gorgeous mix of Aqua, Pink, Red & Apple Green we’re finding Charlotte is starting to give Lou Lou a run for her money for the Tween Girl market. We think the gorgeous cushions are the what make this design so very appealing. The combination of the pink velvet flower & ballerina cushion are simply too hard to resist. What are your customers looking for when doing up their children’s rooms? Inspiration! We are constantly being asked what we use in my children’s rooms and for any hots styling tips. My number one styling tip – choose your 3 base colours are work from there. It is amazing how almost any item with any theme can work in a space as long as the base colour tones are complementary. My other tip to match a couple of items perfectly to give the look continuity. This is one (of the many reasons) I love Patersonrose! You can have your base linen, lampshade & tab top curtains and then blend everything else from there – there is so many product lines to choose from, I often find myself spoilt for choice. What’s your best selling PR accessory? RUGS! The range of Patersonrose rugs is quite simply awesome! The large block colour rectangle designs are heavy, durable & very easy to clean (an absolute must for a children’s bed or playroom). Also with the choice of colours available in the round shaggy’s – there is a rug to suit almost any look! Favourite design & why ? I love Tom. The combo of blue & grey with just a pop of green is stunning & works equally well for a 5 or 15 yr old. The only difficulty I’m having is decoding if I prefer the Grey Stripe or Cobalt Blue sheeting! On a personal note, what’s your current fav meal ? My favourite winter meal at the moment is Asian Roast Chicken. It’s a different take on a traditional roast chicken with the stuffing consisting of tamarind and Asian spices and then reducing the stock & mixing with coconut milk to produce a coconut milk gravy. This is then served with Rice & Steamed Greens. Served with a glass of Pinot Grigio – perfect!
We are buzzing with birthday bash as we celebrate our ‘Sweet 16’ birthday & an amazing 16 year journey of designing 100% cotton linen & interiors for kids rooms around NZ, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong & UAE. In April, we pledged $10 for every PR NEW design duvet cover sold to go to NZ Lifeline to assist teenage suicide prevention!! Lifeline help 1000’s of kids each month who suffer from abuse, mental health issues, bullying, abuse & much much more without ANY government funding. And wow, did you all support that. $750 has been donated to this amazing cause. Even better, it takes exactly $750 to train each volunteer who could be answering some of the 10,000 calls made to Lifeline each month. Thank you PR customers – you are the best!!
STAY POSTED THIS MONTH FOR …
– FACEBOOK posts for sales & competitions – our BLOG for exciting news, videos, competition details & room tips – Instagram as we gram some interesting stuff – & emails for our Friday Flash, retailer news & Photo comp details.
It really is quite unbelievable that we have had 16 amazing years of designing & creating bed linen & interiors right here in little old NZ. What a journey. We can’t say it’s all been easy – it hasn’t! There has been heart break & ache along the way, the odd design tragedy ( thankfully not many ), some deep soul searching, with times of change & turbulence.
But in our hearts, we have always held the passion to design & create beautiful 100% cotton bedding for your charming children & had so many loyal & fun customers ( and a few addicted ones – you know how you are – Victoria, Heather, Trudi, Melody, Megan, our lovely Anne-marie ) & the rest of you who keep us ‘alive’.
So, it is with jumps of joy that we enter June to celebrate our 16th birthday. There is going to be loads of fun – rallying retailers, guessing games, photo comps, specials & of course, we have chocolate ( chocolate must ALWAYS be at birthday partys ).
So please rah rah & woop woop with us. We want to know what you love, what you haven’t, what you remember & of course, what you would like us make to.
With NZ’s teenage suicide rate being the highest of any OECD country, that’s totally tragic. Affecting most New Zealanders in some way, no one person or company can solve this issue alone, but we all can do a little to help make a change together.
So, for the month of April, every NEW design duvet purchased, Patersonrose will donate $10 towards teenage suicide prevention.
Your child’s room should be a fun space, a sanctuary that they love to go to, where they can chill out or bring their friends & siblings. And let’s remember, all our children are different – they have different likes, dislikes, colour tastes & interior needs. But with a little effort, you can make your child’s room uniquely theirs & have loads of fun doing it!!
We love the simplicity of black & white in a girls room, especially an older girls room, as shown, using the Jemima duvet. But we also love the addition of colour to give the room some punch & personality, like soft pink, or a splosh of soft blue, with pastel blue sheeting.
The beauty of black & white is you can stay smart & simple just with black & white, or add any other hero colour you wish too. Have re-decorating!
Hot OFF the production press & created with lots of passion with copious customer contribution via facebook, popups, emails & phone calls, retailer suggestions & full PR team critiquing, we are very proud to introduce our NEW Leon Collection 2018. A rich deep navy blue, metallic grey, charcoal & a nod of red, this quilt cover screams modern, simple, easy & smashingly good looking!!!
We wanted to respond to you, our PR customers, requests, while injecting into our collections a boys design that spans across many ages, is modern, yet also classic. What we did NOT want was tizzy, delicate, multicoloured. Oh no!! You, our customer wanted bold & blocky. And so, we have created Leon!!
It’s so often hard to find nice boys bedding which is also 100% beautiful cotton, is available up to queen bedding size & is a nice ‘boyish’ design – not too young, yet not adult. Our Leon Collection of bedding is this & more; it’s easy – easy to match the the storm grey sheeting & gunpowder grey rug, easy to dress with cushions for big boys, or transition to a smaller boys bedroom. Boom for boys bedding!
From our designers : “Many hours go on behind the scenes, compiling the ‘story’ of each design we produce from our customer feedback, retailers requests but mostly, from our heart!. Retailers have been consulted, customers queried, staff members contributed. Each design starts with a brief, sketches for design outlay then layer by layer, the fabric is pieced together, adding colours, pattern & size, all to meet our overall brief. Ultimately, we are hoping you, our fabulous PR fans, with be smiling & will love of our latest designs”
Zoe is a design of when style hits-the-city, with its bold use of fashionable fresh aqua, paired with raspberry & hot pink. Modern use of ultra large circles makes this a very bewitching bed linen design. Zoe‘s versatility to incorporate a range of interior options makes it a flexible collection to create a bedroom design to suit whatever your daughters age & taste; to pair with existing accessories or go wild & re-vamp wall colours.
Let’s be honest, there are not very many linen collections which are timeless yet fashionable, edgy but not wacky and manage to make a girls bedroom radiant!!
With great pleasure, we present the rooms awarded 2nd place in our ‘Show us your Room’ photo competition 2017. These rooms were selected for their use of colour, some creative license, a dash of design flair & fab presentation, all creating delightful bedroom spaces. Congratulations!
The Judges said …”This girls room is very complete. We loved the use of the colour aqua to link the wall, bed & window dressing, yet the room is not overwhlemed by aqua; there is also good use of other colour elements such as red. The lines are simple, not congested & there is lovely use of accessories – the wall book cube, ‘dream’ & the red heart. Nice layering with the cushions. What girl, big or small, wouldn’t love to sleep in this room!”
Kathryn Taylor – Christchurch: This is my 3 year olds ‘big girls room.’ It was her birthday present that she upgraded to a big bed and a new colour scheme. She adores it and I love how funky and bright the Patersonrose linen makes it! The curtains are her old cot sheets and stitched down the sides of plain lavender ones.
Kathryn Taylors Big Girls room : Lou Lou quilt cover & Lou Lou comforter, bunting & assorted girls cushions. The judges said …” There is a wonderful use of innovation in this girls bedroom. Fantastic use of PR girls Lou Lou bedding, intertwined with the same fabrics to make curtains & also the word ‘free’ Clever!! We really like the use of a colour from wall to bed to curtain trims, & again, this colour use is not overpowering; rather it’s leveled with the stronger colours in the Lou Lou linen. A very smart girls room. Well done“
A Gi-Normous thank you to ALL of you who picked up kids clothing, tidied toys, cleared floors, revamped & re-decorated rooms, ‘clicked’ & then took the time ( something very precious to us all ) to email us your bedroom photo entries.
Wow! We were blown away with the high standard of your bedrooms!! Many inspired, motivated & amazed us!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
It was certainly a very difficult task to select the winners amongst so many gorgeous bedrooms featuring PR linen & products. After 3 days of deliberation between the 4 judges, consensus was finally made. We did note, the standard of room decoration & attention to detail had increased considerably from our last competition – there are some very lucky children with very special bedrooms & spaces. We also note, the flair & individual creativeness was very ‘WOW’. Well done all of you. You blew us away!!!
Our overall winners rooms were selected for their attention to detail, which can sometimes be the simple things. Congratulations to Krysta Ardern with her sons room who was our overall 1st place winner.
Rachael Twigg with her daughters room, featuring Lucy linen & Kathryn Taylor with her Big girls room were our 2nd place winners.
But we couldn’t help ourselves!. The standard was so high & the judging so close that we have also awarded 3 other entries prizes. Our additional winners were Heather Hoy, Sarah Delaney & Aimee Donaldson. Congratulations to all of our winners & thank you to everyone who entered. Stay posted for further comps & offers ….
Our Photo Competition 1st place winner, Krysta Ardern, with her sons room.
The judges said: ‘We loved the feel & flow of this room, with the hero being the Mariner quilt cover on the cot, combined with the sheeting & Mariner comforter. We loved the finishing touches of the 1,2,3 floor rug, a few matching cushions & bunting looped on the wall. The room had a lovely balance from wall to floor of colour & mixed patterns. There was certainly a good use of PR products without crowding; red white & blue, without being strongly one colour. A very cozy & comfortable interior. Well done‘
Having a new baby is one of THEmost exciting times of your life but it can be surrounded with some anxiety – how will I cope? what if I don’t know what to do? where do I find nice 100% cot linen for my new little treasure? Be assured, you will cope, you will find out what to do, & of course, Patersonrose has lovely 100% sheeting, comforters & quilt covers for cots!!! Yay.
Our new born babes deserve to sleep in 100% natural cotton that breathes. And one of the most exciting parts of having a baby, is setting up the nursery with the bedding, wall art ( canvases ) bunting, lampshades & a rug; such fun!! Babies cotton bedding & nice ( not tacky ) nursery accessories are not always easy to find. But now you have discovered Patersonrose, your nursery creation can begin. But be careful!! Patersonrose bedding can become quite an addiction. It’s rather lovely to touch & quite delish to sleep in.
Click here for earlier articles on tips of setting up your nursery.
At Patersonrose, we do our utmost to have a range of designs for you to select from; designs for modern homes, contemporary houses, for homes with a classic lean, city apartments, country homesteads. There are designs for all nurseries, kids rooms, tweens & teens, bringing kids rooms to life.

Aimed to please our younger girls, the Charlotte quilt cover / duvet combines pretty florals, with classic stripes and splendid spots and incorporates the latest fashion colours – duck egg blue, soft pink, sage green & red. Beautiful detail, yet divine & ultra pretty, the Charlotte quilt cover / doona makes your girls bedroom space an elegant place to be.
With days getting shorter & nights cooler, we want our little kids ( and big kids ) to be toasty warm in their rooms & beds. At PR, we provide a range of winter coziness, starting with our coral fleece throws. Soft, tactile & fun, these will warm your child’s room & play area. Brilliant for beds, bean bags, on the sofa & cosying in the car.
Comforters are another good winter investment. These are similar to a bedspread & can be pulled up over a duvet / quilt for extra winter warmth, with comforter options for both girls & boys. Being 100% cotton & cotton fill & gorgeously quilt stitched, comforters really add ‘wow’ to bedrooms.
Do you remember this boys collection? It’s the very handsome Jack range we released in 2007. A quilt cover / duvet of boy-stripes in navy, brown, taupe, grey & green. The Jack comforter was a cool block of denims in blue, grey & charcoal. Very masculine & probably ahead of its time!
Have you heard us say …’We LOVE Cushions‘? That’s ‘cos we do!! On so many levels!.
Tick – cushions are super cosy. Tick – they are a cost effective way to add colour & theme. Get tired of them; it won’t break the bank to change & get a new colour-wave happening! Tick – there’s a fab range for all ages & tastes. Tick – cushions are also practical – use them to prop up for reading in bed. Tick – they look friggin’ fantastic.
So if you haven’t yet made the investment of a couple of PR cushions, don’t dilly-dally any longer :)
We are all about fashion ( in a comfortable way ) & what the ‘in’ looks are for girls rooms in 2017. Having collaborated with our customers for over 11 years creating kids bedroom fashion, we launched the Ashley Collection in 2016/17 to meet our customers requests for pastel colours & spots, with an element of modern ‘randomness’. Softly colourful, with wide age appeal for girls of all ages, the Ashley quilt cover ( duvet / doona ) has the extreme versatility of fitting into any room, with boundless colour combo’s.
The Ashley bedding encompasses a soft pastel rainbow of spots – blue, aqua, yellow, pink, lilac & mint green on a fresh white background. Delicious subtle colours. Team this duvet cover / doona with a raft of sheeting & cushions options & you have created a stunning girls room.
The ‘Look’ can easily be transformed by adding orange, yellow or silver with our NEW cushions, a rug or graphic pillowcases. Be brave & add colour; or stay fashionably white. The choice is yours!
Red, white & blue! Such classic & timeless colours; bright & colourful, themed but ageless. You simply can not ever have too many cushions!!! Cushions in a boys room create some theme, add colour, whilst having the practical aspects of propping up for reading or perching on the floor.
Cushions from top, clockwise: white star, yacht, blast off, four star, up up & away, 3 star, blue union jack, blue world map, rules
This is a design for where ‘style hits the city’ with its bold use of fashionable fresh aqua, paired with raspberry & hot pink. A modern use of large circles makes this a very bewitching bed linen design. Zoe’s versatility in creating a range of interior options makes it a flexible design to suit any girls age ( big girl to younger ), tastes, existing accessories or alternatively, have no boundaries & go wild with wall colours. Let’s be honest, there are not very many linen collections which are timeless yet fashionable, span a range of ages & look fab & funky. With such a variety of interior options you have within PR, the hard part is actually choosing. There are no wrong mix & match options; simply choose the pieces you simply love!
( Continuing on from our article Part 1, last month … )
Exciting! The magical time is nearing for Baby to arrive & you are getting nesty, wanting the room all prepared for you little ones arrival home. By now, you may have set your nursery budget, possibly found out what sex your baby is & chosen wall colours, you probably bought Girl Clothes already.
Tip : A baby won’t need a pillow – they need to lie flat. But an empty pillowcase under Baby’s head is a good option for catching Baby’s spills & are much easier to wash than changing the whole bed every time Baby dribbles.
You may not have decided if you will sleep your baby in a sleep sack yet, so we recommend purchasing a few cot fitted sheets, rather than full sheet sets, to begin with. Don’t forget, baby can mess sheeting at anytime of day & night so having spare sheeting can reduce stress in the middle of the night.
Don’t go overboard with theme as your newborn baby’s becomes a toddler very quickly & theme preferences change just as quickly. Bring in theme with cost effective items that are affordable & easy to change – ie a bunting, wall decal ( we love lots of the kids decals from The Vinyl Room) & wall art & cushions.
Select your key pieces of furniture (check the Club Furniture for leather pieces). There are great options for drawers, a bed-sider & storage units from Kidzspace, Auckland & the metal beds from Incy Interiors.
Once you have the key elements installed, pause. Stand & look at the room. Does it need a rug to add some softness or colour? Or a canvas for the wall to break the space or create & add theme? Is there somewhere for you to sit to feed baby at night? Is there a softer night light & somewhere to dispose of dirty nappies?
Complete these last few tasks & voila! You have a divine special room for your new wee person.
Now enjoy some sleep & rest before baby comes & all the new delights of a newborn & new life begins.
“Just a quick email to say a BIG thank you for the most beautiful products and amazing service I have recently received via your on-line shop. I have purchased several items before but decided to try your on line shop and wasn’t surprised how amazing it was!!!!!!! Your products are divine – as per usual!!!!! so THANK YOU“
What fun!! You are going to have a new member of your family arrive soon & it is such an exciting time setting up a welcoming special room for them. Boy or girl ? or you don’t know yet?
Setting up a nursery can seem to be daunting, but it shouldn’t be. There are lots of great websites which provide key products that you will need.
From our perspective, we suggest the following simple guidelines :
Set a budget – that you are comfortable with. Then stick to this!!! Be realistic – if this is your last planned baby, don’t go over the top – if it is your first, you may have some big purchases to invest in – bassinets, a cot, changing table.
If you know boy or girl, you may which to direct your colour flavour to suit this. Or remain more gender neutral if the baby’s sex is unknown, but this doesn’t have to mean beige or creams – there are lots of lovely blues & greens that can suit both girls & boys. From PR, your gender neutral options include Evie, Molly sheeting, Tom sheeting, Storm sheeting, Bell blue & Raspberry red.
Once a colour palette has been selected, as ALWAYS suggest selecting your linen first. There are zillions of paint options but only a handful of linen options that are available in cot size & there will be fewer you actually like. So hunt out your comforter & sheeting then charge forth with the rest of the room as this will also determine your rooms key colour.
Stay tuned as we complete our nursery tips for you in a few weeks ….
Wills Star quilt cover, sheeting, cushions & bunting
We get so much feedback on how soft & lovely our throws are, especially from people convinced they didn’t want fleece at all ……. until they feel our coral fleece throws!!! Our fleece throws really have the ‘Mmmmm…mmmmm’ of softness, the ‘must have’ feel for wrapping up on the sofa or bean bag, the ‘I must take to bed’ coziness for night time snuggling. Plus they are a wonderful colour pop!! Match them with other colours you have happening or let them BE the colour.
From a practical aspect ( & we do love to be a little practical as well as pretty ), they wash up like new, staying super soft & no pilling!!! All ages adore our throws – from toddlers to teens to Grans. Two darling ladies in their 60 years + from the Hawkes Bay brought the pink throws for themselves so their husbands wouldn’t use them, only to return to buy 2 more, as the pink colour simply didn’t deter the husbands!! Softness & warmth won over!!
We remain totally besotted with our heavenly fleece throws!
Wills Star bedding continues to be our #1 selling collection for young boys. This design spans ages, time, & cultures with so many delightfully classic elements but has the added advantage of having a large number of fun accessories to match & mould into each & every home. Like any PR linen collection, start with the quilt cover / doona, add a comforter & the pieces you love as you can, to create a super cool & fun boys bedroom.
Traditionally Wills Star tends to soft blues, so we love this brighter combination, for rooms wanting a mid blue, slightly bolder palette.
With great pleasure, we present the rooms awarded 2nd place in our ‘Show us your Room’ photo competition. These rooms were selected for their use of colour, some creative license, a dash of design flair & fab presentation, all creating delightful bedroom spaces. Inspirational. Congratulations!
Kate Harper : This is Hannah Harper’s bedroom aged 6. Hannah loves the pink & flowers in her room. The storage bag is the best for her to hide in but also to take all her soft toys around in. She also loves the teal stripes with flowers on her bed of Patersonrose.
Jenny Pollard : This is Lauren’s room, she has almost every Lou Lou item available. She loves her new Lucy stripe rug which arrived last week the most.
Sarah Delaney : My son’s bedroom, featuring ‘Tom‘.
Mandy Butler : I just have got a lovely headboard and gorgeous ‘ Lou Lou‘ bedding from Patersonrose.
Alice Oswald : We have a few items from you but as he is still only 3 weeks old he is still in his bassinet but we are using the duvet cover on his cot. We designed around the colors that were in the duvet which we think looks pretty cool.
Thank you again to all of you who sent us your pics.
Firstly – we were blown away with the number & calibre of entries!! Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you who entered our ‘Show us your Room’ Competition.
Our 2 overall winners rooms were selected for their attention to detail, which can sometimes be the simple things. Congratulations to Megan Pope with Coopers room & Charolette Carroll with Paris’s room, featuring LOL collection. Our other 5 6 winners ( we had to award an extra winner ) were Maree McNally, Jenny Pollard, Kate Harper, Mandy Butler, Alice Oswald & Sarah Delaney. Congratulations to all of our winners & thank you to everyone else who entered. Stay posted for further comps & offers ….
Megan said….. “This is a photo of my son Coopers bedroom. We purchased the Hugo’s Herd range as we wanted something bright that could be gender neutral as we didn’t know the sex of Cooper until he was born and as there is pink included if we had a girl we could throw more pink around. We also purchased a double duvet and sheet to make curtains to match and we also use a quilted pillow case on his change table as a cover. We even colour matched the letter blocks on his duchess. We have our fingers and toes crossed (as we would love a rug in orange lol)”
Charolette Carrols winning entry, with Paris’s room featuring LOL linen
Charolette said … “Paris (11 1/2 years) from Christchurch, chose her duvet from your collection when the time came to update her bedroom. She fell in love with the turquoise, so we went with the LOL collection!! Mum loved the silver in the striped cushions with the silver circle, so we were stoked to come across the “Silver Bling Cushion” at the end of last year – it was a MUST HAVE to add to her Paterson Rose bed! Asking Paris what she loves most about her bedroom, she replied “MY bed, I loooove my cushions”!!! Pictured is Paris reading on her bed! ”
Stay posted, as we will show you the other winning room photos later in the month.
Many hours go on behind the scenes, compiling the ‘story’ of each design we lovingly produce. Retailers have been consulted, customers queried, staff members contributed. Each design starts with a brief, sketches for design outlay then layer by layer, the fabric is pieced together, adding colours, pattern & size, all to meet our overall brief. Ultimately, we are hoping you, our fabulous PR fans, with be gob-smacked with joy & love of our latest & greatest PR linen.
So this was how the Molly collection evolved. Retailers & customers alike where asking for blue, a design that appealed to older girls & teens, which had a modern look & was very fashion focused. Our inspiration was fresh seablues, aqua, edgy geometric but nothing too harsh or blocky. The design must still be feminine. We also wanted a unique aspect – something different from other linen houses. Silver!! Months of months of draft designs, colour testing, silver foil laying, Molly was completed.
And boy! have we put the cat among the pigeons as Molly certainly isn’t your usual PR design. That’s great!! it wasn’t intended to be, with it’s fashionable blues, aqua & hexagon modern look. With her beautiful silver foil adding real wow!!! She still ticks the box of being timeless, have wide age appeal & unthemed, but brings PR into 2016 with a real bang!
We hope you love Molly as much as we have loved the journey of creating the Molly bedlinen for you.
Yes, its official. Pink is one of the hot fashion colours for 2016. And we love that!!! Not just because it is a colour we adore & include in a lot to our fabric & designs, but because it is such a happy, fun colour that celebrates girls and represents ‘sugar and spice and everything nice’.
By definition, pink is … ‘a colour which represents nurturing and love, is feminine and affectionate. It is associated with bubble gum, flowers, little girls, cotton candy, and sweetness.” Jolly good, we say!
Occasionally, & only occasionally, we have a mother setting up her daughter’s 1st bed & the mother simply refuses pink. WHY???? This totally baffles us, as pink should be celebrated; it’s so feminine & pretty & has boundless interior opportunities . Pink should be 100% embraced. Let it go!!!
More often than not, when a young girl is allowed to participate in her linen selection, she undoubtedly always selects a pink design without any hesitation what-so-ever. Bravo!! Emma with pink & white spots & a splosh of green, Victoria with fresh Pink & white with a sublime comforter ( as shown above ), Charlotte with a combo of colours, including pink or Milly with heavenly pink flowers. Whatever your selection, go wild with pink!!
