Patersonrose’s 16 journey – a snapshot through the years

We are buzzing with birthday bash as we celebrate our ‘Sweet 16’ birthday & an amazing adventure designing 100% cotton linen & interiors for kids rooms around NZ, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong & UAE.  Not bad for a little old NZ company.
Most importantly, we couldn’t have done it without you, so thanks!  To celebrate, we have created a video with a few of our highlights & memories. Loads of designs, products, customers & popping up fun.

Park up with a coffee or vino, crank up the volume & sing loudly!!!

There are a few people who we couldn’t find photos of  ( so sorry) who have been such an intricate part of the pathway – Kath, Clare, Rach M & Rach J, Jude H & Jude M. & of course Sally who has been the main inspiration. And Karen (we know how you love your photo taken) who has been part of PR for over 9 years. Plus there are so many of you Popup helpers  (thank you)  & others who have swopped in along the way. Retailer in the spotlight – Out of the Cot, Adelaide

There are very few retailers that are the whole package – provide an amazingly beautiful store & show room for our linen & interiors, who have believed in PR 110% of the way, who are happy to provide some gentle guidance ( sometimes tear-jerkingly honestly ) if we swerve in the wrong direction but just as happy to pat us on the back when we do something well. And not everyone has a great ear (& eye) & is a kind sounding board like the team at OOTC, Adelaide, Australia.   Hence they are the 1st to be spot-lighted for our 16th birthday.

PLUS, they have a brilliant birthday offer for Australian customers, with 30% OFF ALL PR until Fri 21st June 2019

We reflect on Out of the Cot from 2014 & catch up with them today on what they are currently enjoying.  We get the lo-down from Emma on their beautiful store …

2019 :
What is your fav PR design today & why? I currently love Archie! With our eldest having just turned 11 (seriously when did I get old enough to have an 11 yr old) Archie is just perfect.  Archie is that perfect mix of modern & grown up yet still fun and the soft charcoal colour palate is simply stunning.

What is your current fav meal ? My brother is a chef & fisherman on the Tuna boats & I have to say high quality Tuna Sashimi is always a favourite…but I recently had a seared Tuna Poke Bowl and oh my goodness, Yum!

2014 :
Which designs are working well for you?  We are currently crushing on Charlotte. With its gorgeous mix of Aqua, Pink, Red & Apple Green we’re finding Charlotte is starting to give Lou Lou a run for her money for the Tween Girl market. We think the gorgeous cushions are the what make this design so very appealing. The combination of the pink velvet flower & ballerina cushion are simply too hard to resist.
What are your customers looking for when doing up their children’s rooms?  Inspiration! We are constantly being asked what we use in my children’s rooms and for any hots styling tips. My number one styling tip – choose your 3 base colours are work from there. It is amazing how almost any item with any theme can work in a space as long as the base colour tones are complementary. My other tip to match a couple of items perfectly to give the look continuity. This is one (of the many reasons) I love Patersonrose!  You can have your base linen, lampshade & tab top curtains and then blend everything else from there – there is so many product lines to choose from, I often find myself spoilt for choice.
What’s your best selling PR accessory? RUGS! The range of Patersonrose rugs is quite simply awesome! The large block colour rectangle designs are heavy, durable & very easy to clean (an absolute must for a children’s bed or playroom). Also with the choice of colours available in the round shaggy’s – there is a rug to suit almost any look!
Favourite design & why ? I love Tom. The combo of blue & grey with just a pop of green is stunning & works equally well for a 5 or 15 yr old. The only difficulty I’m having is decoding if I prefer the Grey Stripe or Cobalt Blue sheeting!
On a personal note, what’s your current fav meal ?  My favourite winter meal at the moment is Asian Roast Chicken. It’s a different take on a traditional roast chicken with the stuffing consisting of tamarind and Asian spices and then reducing the stock & mixing with coconut milk to produce a coconut milk gravy. This is then served with Rice & Steamed Greens. Served with a glass of Pinot Grigio – perfect!

Thank you Emma & Ash, Lyndel & Stefan  xx

We are ‘Sweet 16’ & celebrating!

Va-va voom, Woop Woop, ching ching, yippee & yoowza

It really is quite unbelievable that we have had 16 amazing years of designing & creating bed linen & interiors right here in little old NZ. What a journey. We can’t say it’s all been easy – it hasn’t!  There has been heart break & ache along the way, the odd design tragedy ( thankfully not many ), some deep soul searching, with times of change & turbulence.

But in our hearts, we have always held the passion to design & create beautiful 100% cotton bedding for your charming children & had so many loyal & fun customers ( and a few addicted ones – you know how you are – Victoria, Heather, Trudi, Melody, Megan, our lovely Anne-marie ) & the rest of you who keep us ‘alive’.

So, it is with jumps of joy that we enter June to celebrate our 16th birthday.  There is going to be loads of fun – rallying retailers, guessing games, photo comps, specials & of course, we have chocolate ( chocolate must ALWAYS be at birthday partys ).

So please rah rah & woop woop with us. We want to know what you love, what you haven’t, what you remember & of course, what you would like us make to.

Happy birthday to us xxxx

$10 Donated with every NEW Duvet purchased during April.

With NZ’s teenage suicide rate being the highest of any OECD country, that’s totally tragic. Affecting most New Zealanders in some way, no one person or company can solve this issue alone, but we all can do a little to help make a change together.

So, for the month of April, every NEW design duvet purchased, Patersonrose will donate $10 towards teenage suicide prevention.

Handy Hint : Decorating tip

Handy Hint : Decorating tip

Your child’s room should be a fun space, a sanctuary that they love to go to, where they can chill out or bring their friends & siblings.
And let’s remember, all our children are different – they have different likes, dislikes, colour tastes & interior needs.
But with a little effort, you can make your child’s room uniquely theirs & have loads of fun doing it!!

We love the simplicity of black & white in a girls room, especially an older girls room, as shown, using the Jemima duvet. But we also love the addition of colour to give the room some punch & personality, like soft pink, or a splosh of soft blue, with pastel blue sheeting.

The beauty of black & white is you can stay smart & simple just with black & white, or add any other hero colour you wish too.  Have re-decorating!

NEW Addition to the PR Family for Boys

Boys navy & grey duvet / quilt cover

Hot OFF the production press & created with lots of passion with copious customer contribution via facebook, popups, emails & phone calls, retailer suggestions & full PR team critiquing, we are very proud to introduce our NEW Leon Collection 2018.  A rich deep navy blue, metallic grey, charcoal & a nod of red, this quilt cover screams modern, simple, easy & smashingly good looking!!!

We wanted to respond to you, our PR customers, requests, while injecting into our collections a boys design that spans across many ages, is modern, yet also classic. What we did NOT want was tizzy, delicate, multicoloured. Oh no!! You, our customer wanted bold & blocky. And so, we have created Leon!!

It’s so often hard to find nice boys bedding which is also 100% beautiful cotton, is available up to queen bedding size & is a nice ‘boyish’ design – not too young, yet not adult.  Our Leon Collection of bedding is this & more; it’s easy – easy to match the the storm grey sheeting & gunpowder grey rug, easy to dress with cushions for big boys, or transition to a smaller boys bedroom. Boom for boys bedding!

Word from the Workshop – The inspiration for Zoe

Zoe girls quilt cover

From our designers : “Many hours go on behind the scenes, compiling the ‘story’ of each design we produce from our customer feedback, retailers requests but mostly, from our heart!.  Retailers have been consulted, customers queried, staff members contributed. Each design starts with a brief, sketches for design outlay then layer by layer, the fabric is pieced together, adding colours, pattern & size, all to meet our overall brief. Ultimately, we are hoping you, our fabulous PR fans, with be smiling & will love of our latest designs

Zoe is a design of when style hits-the-city, with its bold use of fashionable fresh aqua, paired with raspberry & hot pink. Modern use of ultra large circles makes this a very bewitching bed linen design. Zoe‘s versatility to incorporate a range of interior options makes it a flexible collection to create a bedroom design to suit whatever your daughters age & taste; to pair with existing accessories or go wild & re-vamp wall colours.

Let’s be honest, there are not very many linen collections which are timeless yet fashionable, edgy but not wacky and manage to make a girls bedroom radiant!!

Photo Competition; Our 2nd place winners are ….

With great pleasure, we present the rooms awarded 2nd place in our ‘Show us your Room’ photo competition 2017. These rooms were selected for their use of colour, some creative license, a dash of design flair & fab presentation, all creating delightful bedroom spaces. Congratulations!

Rachael Twigg –

Girls room with lucy stripe quilt cover / doona, Lucy comforter

Rachael Twiggs girls room : Lucy stripe quilt cover / doona, Lucy comforter, aqua fleece throw & assorted Cushions

The Judges said …”This girls room is very complete. We loved the use of the colour aqua to link the wall, bed & window dressing, yet the room is not overwhlemed by aqua; there is also good use of other colour elements such as red. The lines are simple, not congested & there is lovely use of accessories – the wall book cube, ‘dream’ & the red heart.  Nice layering with the cushions. What girl, big or small, wouldn’t love to sleep in this room!

——————————

Kathryn Taylor – Christchurch: This is my 3 year olds ‘big girls room.’ It was her birthday present that she upgraded to a big bed and a new colour scheme. She adores it and I love how funky and bright the Patersonrose linen makes it! The curtains are her old cot sheets and stitched down the sides of plain lavender ones.

multi coloured girls quilt cover, girls room & girls bedding

Kathryn Taylors Big Girls room : Lou Lou quilt cover & Lou Lou comforter, bunting & assorted girls cushions. The judges said …” There is a wonderful use of innovation in this girls bedroom. Fantastic use of PR girls Lou Lou bedding, intertwined with the same fabrics to make curtains & also the word ‘free’ Clever!!  We really like the use of a colour from wall to bed to curtain trims, & again, this colour use is not overpowering; rather it’s leveled with the stronger colours in the Lou Lou linen. A very smart girls room. Well done

And Our Winners Are ….

A Gi-Normous thank you to ALL of you who picked up kids clothing, tidied toys, cleared floors, revamped & re-decorated rooms, ‘clicked’ & then took the time ( something very precious to us all ) to email us your bedroom photo entries.

Wow! We were blown away with the high standard of your bedrooms!! Many inspired, motivated & amazed us!!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

It was certainly a very difficult  task to select the winners amongst so many gorgeous bedrooms featuring PR linen & products.  After 3 days of deliberation between the 4 judges, consensus was finally made.  We did note, the standard of room decoration & attention to detail had increased considerably from our last competition – there are some very lucky children with very special bedrooms & spaces. We also note, the flair & individual creativeness was very ‘WOW’.  Well done all of you. You blew us away!!!

Our overall winners rooms were selected for their attention to detail, which can sometimes be the simple things.  Congratulations to Krysta Ardern with her sons room who was our overall 1st place winner.

Rachael Twigg with her daughters room, featuring Lucy linen & Kathryn Taylor with her Big girls room were our 2nd place winners.

But we couldn’t help ourselves!.  The standard was so high & the judging so close that we have also awarded 3 other entries prizes. Our additional winners were Heather Hoy, Sarah Delaney & Aimee Donaldson. Congratulations to all of our winners & thank you to everyone who entered. Stay posted for further comps & offers ….

Our Photo Competition 1st place winner, Krysta Ardern, with her sons room.

The judges said: ‘We loved the feel & flow of this room, with the hero being the Mariner quilt cover on the cot, combined with the sheeting & Mariner comforter. We loved the finishing touches of the 1,2,3 floor rug, a few matching cushions & bunting looped on the wall. The room had a lovely balance from wall to floor of colour & mixed patterns. There was certainly a good use of PR products without crowding; red white & blue, without being strongly one colour. A very cozy & comfortable interior. Well done

Cute as a button.

With days getting shorter & nights cooler, we want our little kids ( and big kids ) to be toasty warm in their rooms & beds. Brilliant for beds, bean bags, on the sofa & cosying in the car.

Memory Lane

blue & taupe boys quilt cover / duvet

Do you remember this boys collection?  It’s the very handsome Jack range we released in 2007.  A quilt cover / duvet of boy-stripes in navy, brown, taupe, grey & green. The Jack comforter was a cool block of denims in blue, grey & charcoal. Very masculine & probably ahead of its time!

Setting up your Nursery – Part 2. Magic!!

175 (Copy) (2)

( Continuing on from our article Part 1, last month … )

Exciting! The magical time is nearing for Baby to arrive & you are getting nesty, wanting the room all prepared for you little ones arrival home.  By now, you may have set your nursery budget, possibly found out what sex your baby is & chosen wall colours, you probably bought Girl Clothes already.

  • Tip : A baby won’t need a pillow – they need to lie flat. But an empty pillowcase under Baby’s head is a good option for catching Baby’s spills & are much easier to wash than changing the whole bed every time Baby dribbles.
  • You may not have decided if you will sleep your baby in a sleep sack yet, so we recommend purchasing a few cot fitted sheets, rather than full sheet sets, to begin with. Don’t forget, baby can mess sheeting at anytime of day & night so having spare sheeting can reduce stress in the middle of the night.
  • Don’t go overboard with theme as your newborn baby’s becomes a toddler very quickly & theme preferences change just as quickly. Bring in theme with cost effective items that are affordable & easy to change – ie a bunting, wall decal ( we love lots of the kids decals from The Vinyl Room) & wall art & cushions.
  • Select your key pieces of furniture (check the Club Furniture for leather pieces). There are great options for drawers, a bed-sider & storage units from Kidzspace, Auckland & the metal beds from Incy Interiors.
  • Once you have the key elements installed, pause. Stand & look at the room. Does it need a rug to add some softness or colour? Or a canvas for the wall to break the space or create & add theme? Is there somewhere for you to sit to feed baby at night? Is there a softer night light & somewhere to dispose of dirty nappies?
  • Complete these last few tasks & voila!  You have a divine special room for your new wee person.

Now enjoy some sleep & rest before baby comes & all the new delights of a newborn & new life begins.

Amazing service!

Just a quick email to say a BIG thank you for the most beautiful products and amazing service I have recently received via your on-line shop. I have purchased several items before but decided to try your on line shop and wasn’t surprised how amazing it was!!!!!!! Your products are divine – as per usual!!!!! so THANK YOU

From Louise S, Chch.

Setting up your Nursery – part 1

What fun!! You are going to have a new member of your family arrive soon & it is such an exciting time setting up a welcoming special room for them. Boy or girl ? or you don’t know yet?

Setting up a nursery can seem to be daunting, but it shouldn’t be. There are lots of great websites which provide key products that you will need.

From our perspective, we suggest the following simple guidelines :

  • Set a budget – that you are comfortable with. Then stick to this!!! Be realistic – if this is your last planned baby, don’t go over the top – if it is your first, you may have some big purchases to invest in – bassinets, a cot, changing table.
  • If you know boy or girl, you may which to direct your colour flavour to suit this. Or remain more gender neutral if the baby’s sex is unknown, but this doesn’t have to mean beige or creams – there are lots of lovely blues & greens that can suit both girls & boys. From PR, your gender neutral options include Evie, Molly sheeting, Tom sheeting, Storm sheeting, Bell blue & Raspberry red.
  • Once a colour palette has been selected, as ALWAYS suggest selecting your linen first. There are zillions of paint options but only a handful of linen options that are available in cot size & there will be fewer you actually like. So hunt out your comforter & sheeting then charge forth with the rest of the room as this will also determine your rooms key colour.

Stay tuned as we complete our nursery tips for you in a few weeks ….

Product Pin Up – Throws

Throws

We get so much feedback on how soft & lovely our throws are, especially from people convinced they didn’t want fleece at all ……. until they feel our coral fleece throws!!! Our fleece throws really have the ‘Mmmmm…mmmmm’ of softness, the ‘must have’ feel for wrapping up on the sofa or bean bag, the ‘I must take to bed’ coziness for night time snuggling. Plus they are a wonderful colour pop!! Match them with other colours you have happening or let them BE the colour.

From a practical aspect ( & we do love to be a little practical as well as pretty ), they wash up like new, staying super soft & no pilling!!! All ages adore our throws – from toddlers to teens to Grans. Two darling ladies in their 60 years + from the Hawkes Bay brought the pink throws for themselves so their husbands wouldn’t use them, only to return to buy 2 more, as the pink colour simply didn’t deter the husbands!! Softness & warmth won over!!

We remain totally besotted with our heavenly fleece throws!

Pick ‘n Mix – Mid Blue Hues of Wills Star

Pik-n-Mix - Wills Star w Mid Blue (Copy)

Wills Star bedding continues to be our #1 selling collection for young boys. This design spans ages, time, & cultures with so many delightfully classic elements but has the added advantage of having a large number of fun accessories to match & mould into each & every home. Like any PR linen collection, start with the quilt cover / doona, add a comforter & the pieces you love as you can, to create a super cool & fun boys bedroom.

Traditionally Wills Star tends to soft blues, so we love this brighter combination, for rooms wanting a mid blue, slightly bolder palette.

Let us show you how ….

Kate Harper : This is Hannah Harper’s bedroom aged 6. Hannah loves the pink & flowers in her room. The storage bag is the best for her to hide in but also to take all her soft toys around in. She also loves the teal stripes with flowers on her bed of Patersonrose.

Jenny Pollard : This is Lauren’s room, she has almost every Lou Lou item available.  She loves her new Lucy stripe rug which arrived last week the most.

Maree McNally :  This is my son James’ room. He loves his Will’s Star duvet, Mariner rug and the cushions! We have the Will’s Star spot top sheet on at the moment with the cobalt blue fitted sheet. The room is still a bit of a work in progress as need to get a few more pictures on the walls!

Sarah Delaney : My son’s bedroom, featuring ‘Tom‘.

Mandy Butler : I just have got a lovely headboard and gorgeous ‘ Lou Lou‘ bedding from Patersonrose.

Alice Oswald : We have a few items from you but as he is still only 3 weeks old he is still in his bassinet but we are using the duvet cover on his cot. We designed around the colors that were in the duvet which we think looks pretty cool.

Thank you again to all of you who sent us your pics.

Megan Popes winning entry, with Coopers room featuring Hugos Herd linen

“This is a photo of my son Coopers bedroom. We purchased the Hugo’s Herd range as we wanted something bright that could be gender neutral as we didn’t know the sex of Cooper until he was born and as there is pink included if we had a girl we could throw more pink around. We also purchased a double duvet and sheet to make curtains to match and we also use a quilted pillow case on his change table as a cover. We even colour matched the letter blocks on his duchess.  We have our fingers and toes crossed (as we would love a rug in orange lol)”

Charolette Carrols winning entry, with Paris’s room featuring LOL linen

Charolette said …
Paris (11 1/2 years) from Christchurch, chose her duvet from your collection when the time came to update her bedroom.  She fell in love with the turquoise, so we went with the LOL collection!! Mum loved the silver in the striped cushions with the silver circle, so we were stoked to come across the “Silver Bling Cushion” at the end of last year – it was a MUST HAVE to add to her Paterson Rose bed!  Asking Paris what she loves most about her bedroom, she replied “MY bed, I loooove my cushions”!!! Pictured is Paris reading on her bed! ”

Stay posted, as we will show you the other winning room photos later in the month.

Word from the Workshop ….. The Molly Collection

Inspiration behind Molly

Many hours go on behind the scenes, compiling the ‘story’ of each design we lovingly produce.  Retailers have been consulted, customers queried, staff members contributed. Each design starts with a brief, sketches for design outlay then layer by layer, the fabric is pieced together, adding colours, pattern & size, all to meet our overall brief. Ultimately, we are hoping you, our fabulous PR fans, with be gob-smacked with joy & love of our latest & greatest PR linen.

So this was how the Molly collection evolved. Retailers & customers alike where asking for blue, a design that appealed to older girls & teens, which had a modern look & was very fashion focused. Our inspiration was fresh seablues, aqua, edgy geometric but nothing too harsh or blocky. The design must still be feminine. We also wanted a unique aspect – something different from other linen houses. Silver!! Months of months of draft designs, colour testing, silver foil laying, Molly was completed.

And boy! have we put the cat among the pigeons as Molly certainly isn’t your usual PR design.  That’s great!! it wasn’t intended to be, with it’s fashionable blues, aqua & hexagon modern look. With her beautiful silver foil adding real wow!!! She still ticks the box of being timeless, have wide age appeal & unthemed, but brings PR into 2016 with a real bang!

We hope you love Molly as much as we have loved the journey of creating the Molly bedlinen for you.

Hot News …. 2016 Fashion Colour Announced

& the latest #1 fashion colour for 2016 is ….. drum roll …… PINK.

Victoria with spots & blue chair

Victoria duvet / doona cover, comforter & matching pillowsham, pink heart, yeah rite & pink velvet cushions, sea blue shaggy rug

Yes, its official. Pink is one of the hot fashion colours for 2016. And we love that!!! Not just because it is a colour we adore & include in a lot to our fabric & designs, but because it is such a happy, fun colour that celebrates girls and represents ‘sugar and spice and everything nice’.

By definition, pink is … ‘a colour which represents nurturing and love, is feminine and affectionate. It is associated with bubble gum, flowers, little girls, cotton candy, and sweetness.” Jolly good, we say!

Occasionally, & only occasionally, we have a mother setting up her daughter’s 1st bed & the mother simply refuses pink. WHY???? This totally baffles us, as pink should be celebrated; it’s so feminine & pretty & has boundless interior opportunities . Pink should be 100% embraced. Let it go!!!

More often than not, when a young girl is allowed to participate in her linen selection, she undoubtedly always selects a pink design without any hesitation what-so-ever. Bravo!! Emma with pink & white spots & a splosh of green, Victoria with fresh Pink & white with a sublime comforter ( as shown above ), Charlotte with a combo of colours, including pink or Milly with heavenly pink flowers. Whatever your selection, go wild with pink!!

The Changing Looks of Charlotte

Scrumptious girls designs are hard to find at the moment, with many linen houses opting for total monochrome & total geo designs. But ALL young girls should be only surround in all things pretty, & that starts with their bedroom, their quilt cover & the fun cushions for the bed.

We love how the Charlotte girls linen can be teamed with beautiful duck blue by adding a PR sea blue shaggy rug ( as above ) or resplendent with pink & a dash of red ( as below ) by adding a fuschia pink shaggy rug & twinkle star canvas.  Oh know!  which sublime option to choose??? Terrific Tom

We often get disgruntled Mothers who finally find Patersonrose linen & get so excited to discover some linen options for boys. Linen that is not for adults, is not too tizzy, is edgy & un-themed ( no dinosaur or car prints ) & can be accessorized to suit a boys latest craze & passion. Moving Your Child From Cot to Bed? Some tips

Wills star

Moving out of a cot to a big bed

Moving your little princess or prince into a ‘big bed’?

Congratulations!
That decision may have come about because your child has started to climb out of their cot? Perhaps their feet now reach the end? Or you simply feel it is time for them to have a bed!
Key things to decide upon;
What size bed ? Single, king single or even queen. Perhaps you are considering bunks?
You may be limited by bedroom space, in which case a single bed may best suit. If not, a king single bed is a great option, giving longevity as your child grows, it allows room on the bed for mum or dad to snuggle up for night-time stories & is currently the most popular bed size.
Next linen!
If you are reading this BLOG, you are not likely to have a mickey mouse or Dora the Explorer preference.
Our PR philosophy has always been to provide you with un-themed linen options which will suit your 2 year & will grow with them as they move from dora to fairies to princess to pop stars. Don’t be scared to introduce theme but do this with accessories as these are more affordable & easy to change with your child’s latest craze!
Colour – Choose a colour palette for your child’s room, then select bedding that will tone with this colour. Of course 100% cotton bedding is the preference. Our kids spend such a long time in beds & deserve to sleep in natural cotton bedding; especially if your child has skin allergies or sensitive skin. If you plan on traveling or your worried about bed bugs in your home get a mattress bed bug protector.
Accessories – this is the fun part!
Now you have ticked off colour & selected a linen design ( which of course we hope is from Patersonrose ), then have a ball selecting accessories. These may vary depending on bedroom space & your child’s age;  storage bags are a great option for keeping toys, shoes etc, helping to keep the room tidy. Add a pin board for notes & certificates. Perhaps include a rug for a pop of colour & to keep little toes warm. Cushions are a fab way to add theme & introduce some other colours. A fleece floor cushion is a perfect alternative to a bean bag & can be accompanied with a matching fleece throw for coziness.

Viola! You now have the ingredients for a fun, practical room for your wee one. Feel free to contact us for some mix & match ideas or accessory suggestions.

Reach for the Stars

Wills Star Bed Shot (Copy)

Very few linen companies can boast linen designs which have the stamina & customer interest to survive years!!!

Patersonrose can, with our Wills Star collection.  Wills Star is a balance of classic & modern, fun & cheery, character but not too ‘themey’, combining a flavour of blues, red & white with block colour of red & navy in the comforter option ( Mariner ) & sheeting.  Fabulous!!!

It appeals to a wide range of ages cots; little boys for their first bed, loaded up with truck & star cushions, a bunting & a star rug, to middle aged boys with pin boards & more of a nautical look, with anchor & boat cushions.

Make your boys Wills Star room marvellous, fun place to be!!!

Rugging up

Rainbow of Rugs2 (Copy)

Needing to take the chill off cool floor boards or tiles? Or wanting little feet to land on something warm on cool mornings as they spring out of bed. Or just to add a ‘bang’ of colour & softness to a bedroom, play area or study?

Rugs tick all of these boxes plus do a whole lot more, while also linking a room together, bringing in the pattern of the linen & colours from the walls.

Rugs add a splosh of colour to jazz up any area in your home. There are not many other items that you can add to your kids bedroom, play area or study that will have the colour impact a rug makes.  By adding a block of solid colour or a pattern, rugs soften a room from harsh floors, provide a comfy area for kids to sit or play, add warmth & bring the room ‘together’ as they fuse the rooms décor & wall colour. One thing left – choosing among rug sizes.

Choose from a Patersonrose round shaggy rug ( 1.2m diameter ), a larger rectangular rug ( 1.2 x 1.7m) or if your space is smaller, then choose from our fun themed 1 x 1.5m rugs. Go block colour in green, pink, blues, red or purple, or use the pattern of a shortpile rug to lift & jazz up the area you are decorating. Whatever you select, a quality Patersonrose acrylic rug will last a long time.

The Do’s & Don’ts of decorating your child’s bedroom.

169 (Copy)

Do : make a budget that you are comfortable with & can meet.

Don’t : compromise on linen quality – your child spends over 50% of their day in their bed & do a huge amount of their growing & recovery while asleep. Cotton bedding is a very good investment you won’t regret.

Do : base your room interiors around a colour you & your child both like.

Don’t : succumb to paying for licensed designs or themes that your child will outgrow quickly.

Do: theme your child’s room with their latest craze with easy-to-change accessories – cushions, wall decals, art, toys. These are an affordable way to add themed, which you can easily & cost-effectively update.

Don’t : expect your child’s room to remain the same for your child’s entire childhood. Be prepared to make adjustments with theme, colour & practical aspects such as including a desk & storage as you child needs change.

Do : put effort into making your children’s room a special place – a room that they will enjoy, be comfortable & relaxed & most importantly, it will make you smile!

Delightful Emma

If there was ever a linen collection that we would hang our hat on, it would be our Emma design. Pinks, white & apple green, spots, stripes & check, Emma can be paired with so many print & colour combos. Titivate to adjust & grow with your girl; as her whims change; as fashion & colour preferences change. We love this look – Emma bedding with the butterfly rug;  pink velvet, circular & In the Garden cushions & pink pig ( courteous of the AFD store ).

Comfy Comforters – wonderful winter warmth

girls comforters

Now that days are getting shorted & nights cooler, it’s time to add some fun, colourful & winter-warming comforters to your bedrooms. We LOVE our comforters (or coverlets to some). They are all 100% cotton with 100% cotton fill, divinely quilt stitched, they look great,  while adding warmth. Plus comforters are easily washed – just throw them in the washing machine. Too easy!

Patersonrose comforters add extra weight for warmth over winter while being a lovely addition on beds over a sheet during summer months. Design options for girls & boys; select one to match a Patersonrose duvet cover & create a whole story for your child’s, or choose one that you like the colour & fabric of, which matches your current bedroom linen.
